8 Ways To Celebrate New Year’s Eve At Home With Family In 2020.

1. Decorate your home

Celebrate New Year’s Eve at home by decorating your home. I love going to Dollar Tree for all my party supplies because it’s a one-stop-shop for all my party supply needs. It’s also very affordable!

Put a banner up. Cover your dining table with a table cover and dress it up with confetti. Dollar Tree sells numeric foil balloons to make 2021. You can purchase 4 balloons at $1 each versus elsewhere, which sells for about $3-4 each. Have the kids blow up some latex balloons and either float them to the ceiling or lay them on the floor.

Just FYI, you’re able to order online through Dollar Tree and have it delivered to your local Dollar Tree store.

2. Dress up

Celebrate New Year’s Eve at home by dressing up. Dressing up for the occasion can make a big difference from having a meh party to having an awesome party – picture wise. However, dressing down can make a big difference in having a comfortable day versus having an uncomfortable day. You’ll be at home either way.

I guess you can say a big pro of celebrating New Year’s Eve at home is being able to change clothes when you want to dress up or down. I usually go for comfort, but our family will be dressing up this year because my daughter got an awesome Zara hand-me-down dress, and yes…

that is what moms do!

3. Have drinks

Celebrate New Year’s Eve at home with family by having drinks. We’re celebrating a year’s end and a new beginning. That definitely deserves drinks and a toast. Alcohol for the adults, sparkling cider for the tweens/teens, and apple juice for the kids.

4. Plan a photo session with props

Celebrate New Year’s Eve at home by having a photo session with props. As mentioned earlier, Dollar Tree has an awesome Mardi Gras selection in lieu of their New Year’s decorations. There were feather boa’s, beaded necklaces, whistleblowers, confetti poppers, and shot glass necklaces for photo props.

I would say this would be a good reason to dress up.

For fun sake, why not?

5. Have a dance party

Celebrate New Year’s Eve at home with family by having a dance party. Put on some music and dance the stress out! My kids get wild when they hear music, especially my toddler. She just loves to sing and dance to everything.

Tap, tap! Actually, my daughter is more of a – STOMP, STOMP!

6. Make DIY New Year’s games

Celebrate New Year’s Eve at home by making DIY New Year’s Games. This year our family will be making 2 DIY New Years’ games for us to play.

The first game we’ll be making is Pin the 1 on 202_ and whoever pins the 1 on 202_ wins! Okay, duh!

Another game we’ll be making is Roll the dice to 2021. Dollar Tree Sells medium-sized foam dice where you are able to put your own numbers onto the dice. We needed a blank side for a 0. The object of the game is to make 2021 first. You do this by rolling the dice and hopefully getting 2 twice, a 0, and a 1.

If you win both games you win $20.21.

Cha-ching!

7. Bake a cake and make a 2021 wish!

Celebrate New Year’s Eve at home by baking a cake or cupcakes with your kids. I usually place a candle on top to blow during the countdown. It’s something I like to do for the kids to wish for something great for the coming year. This will be our toddler’s first time.

I was able to find numeric candle toppers at our local Dollar Tree. I got 4 numbers for the price of 1. Usually, they sell for about $2-4 depending, but Dollar Tree sells them for $1 each. I was lucky to find all the numbers.

This year, I will be placing a 2021 candle on top of our cupcakes.

Make a wish!

8. Host a Zoom countdown meeting

Celebrate New Year’s Eve at home by hosting a Zoom countdown meeting, or Face time. Our family uses Face time usually after the countdown. Hosting a Zoom meeting during the countdown this year is definitely needed considering we didn’t get to spend Christmas together.

Virtual air hugs!
